I bought my 15 year old son his PS4 in 2015. It came with the original Star Wars Battlefront. I started playing on it in the evenings for a while in campaign mode until my son convinced me to try playing online. At first I was hesitant because I could see how quick his reactions were and how well he played. I thought that I would make a fool of myself. But then I gave it a go and really enjoyed it.
However, I wanted to find something with a more real-world type of feel. Being a complete noob, I searched the Internet and watched countless YouTube videos until I discovered Battlefield 4. I then went online to the store and saw it on sale for about R250 (or thereabouts). I immediately bought it and started playing the campaign mode again. It wasn’t long until my son went online for me and after playing for a few minutes, he worked out how it works and showed his slow father how to play the game. So, I gave it a go and thoroughly enjoyed playing it.
Well, it wasn’t long after that that Battlefield 1 came out. I immediately bought it when it was released and like most people, really got into the game. I could see that I wasn’t as good as the other players, so I played alone as a random for a long time before I garnered the courage to talk to someone in the squad. Well, that’s when the fun really started. I made some cool online friends and have even met a few of them since. And that makes playing even more fun.
Obviously, Battlefield 5 was released and I immediately bought it.
My gaming skills are still terrible, but find that when one plays with good players in one’s squad, one’s skills improve too. Especially when they give one tips on how to play and what weapons to use where.
Battlefield is the only game I play. I enjoy the local BF community. Some people don’t make it easy to play with. But they’re in the minority. The vast majority are great. I’ve started streaming a little bit. I enjoy it with some hesitation at the moment because I’m still finding my feet. But as with most things I try, I usually do it well after a while….. Except getting a positive k/d (my absolute nemesis and frustration).
Oh! And don’t ask me how I got my PSN. It’s a looong story.
